The world’s largest meeting around water

Marseille will host from the 12th till the 17th of March 2012, the 6th World Water Forum. This forum, organised every three years, is the most important international event in the field of water. It regroups more than twenty thousand participants coming from all around the world.

On February 2nd, French minister in charge of the Co-operation, Henri de Raincourt, shall inaugurate the preparatory meeting of the Forum, which will be held on February 2nd and 3rd at the UNESCO offices in Paris. Following the invitation of France, Ministerial representatives and international organizations invited to the Forum, as well as the civil society, will have the responsibility to find a consensus on the text which will become the ministerial declaration of the Forum of Marseilles.

The goal of the 6th World Water Forum is to tackle the challenges our world is facing and to bring water high on all political agendas. There will be no sustainable development while the water issues remain unsolved. Everywhere on the planet, for all and everyone, the Right to Water (recognised by 189 states at the UN one year ago) must be guaranteed and implemented
